Conversations with a wide variety of caregivers, paid and unpaid, helped her realize she wasn’t alone. And yet we are very isolated now, more isolated than ever—and isolation does not work for caregivers. This is bigger than the retail sector and yet so many caregivers are made to feel as though our efforts are small–and not worthy of support. Elissa Strauss: Whether someone is caring for an adult parent, a sick spouse or a child, caregivers are failed across the board. CNN: How could we as individuals support caregivers more?

Jackson is not the only House representative who has both taken advantage of the popular app and voted for the bill that could ban it. Some of these representatives actively use the app to boost their campaigns, while others use it for office communications. Republicans are rallying around IVF access after a controversial Alabama Supreme Court ruling. The issue has been further fueled by a House bill to recognize human life at fertilization. Democratic candidate Elissa Slotkin, who is running against Rogers for Senate, pointed out that Rogers has co-sponsored four bills with similar language to the House bill while in Congress. President Joe Biden's campaign and Vice President Kamala Harris have also lobbed criticism regarding the Alabama Supreme Court decision, specifically calling out Trump. What’s happening in Alabama is a direct result of Donald Trump’s Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Former Detroit Police Chief James Craig is ending his Republican bid for an open U.S. Senate seat representing Michigan just over four months after launching his campaign, he told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “This is strictly a business decision," Craig told AP by phone. According to the latest finance reports filed last month, Craig had raised only $60,581 by the end of 2023, well behind other Senate candidates. Detroit-area businessman Sandy Pensler launched his second campaign for the Senate in December. He had been considered a favorite in that 2022 election, but he and four others were kept off the ballot due to the fraudulent signatures on nominating petitions.

Why the race for the House is the one to watch in 2024

CNN —It won’t suck up anywhere near the oxygen of the presidential election, but the race for the US House of Representatives may be the most exciting campaign to watch in 2024. But in the House, Republicans’ shrinking majority has underscored the importance of the balance of power in Washington. House Republicans currently control 219 seats to Democrats’ 212, with four vacancies. Santos was expelled from the House last year, but he’s not absent from the race. The issues have been the subject of hours of intense Situation Room discussions and high-level talks between the leaders. The comments ricocheted across the House Democratic Caucus – especially for the 15 House Democrats who didn’t vote for it, all of them members of color, some of them Muslim-Americans. An array of House Democrats are pushing unequivocal support for Israel, while a number of progressives have grown increasingly critical of the offensive impacting Palestinian civilians and are upping pressure on the Biden administration to call for a ceasefire. And he is also dealing with a push by Jewish House members to have a more prominent seat at the leadership table. Democrats say the divide is being reflected in their states – and is hurting the president. He joins former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers and former Detroit Police Chief James Craig in the Republican field, while the Democratic field has been led by U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin and includes actor Hill Harper. But a vote to impeach Trump just two weeks into Meijer’s first-term made him an immediate target of Trump loyalists. Meijer was among 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in 2021 following the deadly mob siege of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Questions still linger about whether a moderate candidate who voted to impeach Trump can survive a Republican primary. Trump won Michigan in 2016, and his endorsed candidates have overwhelmingly won primaries before losing by wide margins in general elections.
